Prof. Zhiyong Tang was born in Hunan in March 1971. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Department of Environmental Science, Wuhan University in 1993 and 1996, respectively, and Ph.D. degree in 2000 from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CIAC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). As a Research Associate, he did the research in Dr. Roel Prins’s group, Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich from 2000 to 2001. He also worked as a Research Fellow in Dr. Nicholas A. Kotov’s group first in Chemistry Department, Oklahoma State University and then in Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Michigan from 2001 to 2006. He joined National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST) as a full professor in November 2006. His research interest focuses on fabrication, assembly and application of inorganic nanomaterials in the field of energy and catalysis.
Prof. Tang used to be Chief Scientist of National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) as well as Chief Scientist of Innovative Research Groups of NSFC. He served as scientific editor of Nanoscale Horizons and associate editor of Materials Today Energy, also editorial advisory board members for several international journals including Chem, Small, Advanced Sustainable Systems, Chemical Science, Nanoscale, Nano Research, NPG Asia Materials.
From April 2016 to June 2017, Prof. Tang was the Assistant Director of NCNST, and he became the Deputy Director of NCNST since June 2017.
