Introduction ofNCNST

The National Center for Nanoscience and Technology(NCNST) of China is co-founded by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Ministry of Education . It is a subsidiary non-profit organization of CAS which enjoys full financial allocations with a status of independent non-profit legal entity.

Lianfang Zha

Lianfang Zha was born in Shanghai, 1951. She got her Bachelor s degree in nuclear physics from the Department of Physics in the University of Science and Technology, China. Between May and Dec. 1982, she enrolled in a statistics program in Shanghai Medical College. She was a visiting scholar at the University of Texas between June and Oct. 1997. She attended a senior management training program for staff of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Australia  in Oct. 2001. Between Sept., 2001 and Sept., 2003 she was enrolled in the Asia International Open University (Macao) and obtained her MBA. 

She worked in the Anhui Provincial Vaccination Post between 1977 and 1985, in 1985 she was promoted to be the engineer and principle investigator. She worked in the Northern Coal Testing Center of the Ministry of Geological Resources , and acted as the principle investigator in the 5th laboratory of the Center. (Between 1985-1986 she also carried out collaborative research in the Applied Division of the Institute of High Energy Physics.) Between 1989 and 1992, she worked at the Division of Phyics, in the Bureau of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of CAS; she has been a senior engineer since Dec., 1991. Since 1993, she has worked in the Comprehensive Division of the Bureau of Basic Research in the CAS, and was the Deputy Director of the Division from 1993 and Director of the Division in March 1998. In 2002 she was promoted to be the Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Basic Research. In March 2002, she became the Deputy Director and a professor at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics.  Since March 2004, she has been the Deputy Director of the National Center for NanoScience and Technology, China.

Her research experience includes years of capacity as a principle investigator in eight major research projects, including National Projects in the Seventh Five Year Program, Key Research Projects, National Science Foundation Projects.  She has more than ten domestic and international publications, and was given an Award for Scientific Advancement by the Ministry of Science and Technology. She has also been an experienced manager in a number of strategic research programs and a successful organizer of a number of national research programs. She worked in the National Ascendance Project, National Key Basic Research Development Planning Projects, and was a key planner in the  Ninth Five Year Program  of the CAS, and the National Tenth Five Year Science Planning.
