The 2nd China-U.S. Symposium on Nanobiology and Nanomedicine is Held in Washington D.C

The 2nd Joint China-U.S. Symposium on Nanobiology and Nanomedicine is held on September 16 to 18, 2010, in Washington D.C, national capital of the United States. This meeting extending the First China-U.S. Symposium at Beijing in 2008, is scheduled every two years held between the United States and China. With considerable discussion and careful preparation, the symposium is hosted by the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), it is co-organized by National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), and National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST).

Chinese delegates include scientists from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and universities in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Zhejiang province. The U.S. attendees are composed of  not only representatives from eight centers for research excellence on nanotechnology  fully funded by the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), but also scientists engaged in nanomedicinal research in National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), as well as policy experts in President Obama Office of Nanotechnology. Representatives from both sides review the history of nanoscience and nanotechnology, introduce research policy,  dispositionand investment on nano-projects in China and the U.S. Participants present achievements on nanoresearch, and take broad communication on potential interested research fields. In three-day conference, total 54 participants actively discuss research projects and future direction, express strong interest in developing new opportunities for collaboration based on existing achievements in some research fields. At the closing ceremony of symposium on September18, bilateral delegates are looking forward to further interactions and deeper communicate. Both sides expect to consolidate on nanotechnology achievements together by  the 3rd China-U.S. Symposium on Nanobiology and Nanomedicine, which will be held by China in 2012, thus promote in-depth collaborations on nanobiology and nanomedicine research.
