On July 26th, 2005, the opening ceremony of “China-Korea Nanotechnology Research Center” on the Korea side was held in Taejon Korea. July 2nd, 2007 witnessed the paralleling ceremony on the Chinese side. Executive vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of NCNST, Professor Chunli Bai and Vice Premier, Minister of Korea Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Kim Woo-sik unveiled the plague which declared the formal establishment of the joint research center.
“China-Korea Nanomaterial Seminar” was held in March 2007 in Soul, Korea. Invited talks themed with STM single molecule reactions, photo-electrical functional materials and Nano composite materials were delivered by experts from China. “The 2nd China Korea Joint Symposium on Nanomaterials ” was held in Beijing 2008 which presented an opportunity for deepened exchange of ideas between the two sides and set the foundation for bilateral substantial cooperation. Joint research project “Nanomaterial Fusion Technology” was funded after the symposium.
In order to compare and better understand bilateral nanotechnology policies, “China-Korea Nanotechnology Policy Seminar” was held in November, 2008 in NCNST. Officials from relevant departments of both countries participated in this joint event. Information on history and current development of respective nanotechnology polices were shared. At the same month, a Korea Nanoscience and Technology delegation visited five Nano-research facilities in Korea.
