On June 24, 2026, Prof. Sergey A. Ponomarenko, Director of the Enikolopov Institute of Synthetic Polymeric Materials of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISPM RAS) and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, visited the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST). Prof. Zhiyong Tang, Director of NCNST, hosted the meeting.
Prof. Tang extended a warm welcome to Prof. Ponomarenko. He noted that China and Russia enjoy broad prospects for cooperation in nanoscience and technology, citing the strong momentum evidenced by multiple joint project applications submitted by researchers from both sides this year alone. He emphasized that ISPM RAS holds a leading advantage in molecular design and synthesis, while NCNST has built a solid foundation in investigating the properties and mechanisms of nano- and cross-scale materials. He expressed the hope that both institutes would pursue complementary collaboration in fields such as energy conversion and biomedicine, leveraging their respective strengths to jointly advance fundamental scientific breakthroughs.
Prof. Ponomarenko presented an overview of ISPM RAS and shared his research achievements in self-assembled organic semiconductors.
During the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), agreeing to hold regular academic exchanges focusing on frontier areas such as organic electronics and photonic functional materials. The MOU also commits both parties to deepening practical cooperation in personnel visits, joint research, and collaborative project applications.
