On September 21, the Interdisciplinary Academic Exchange Symposium on Nanoscience, co-hosted by the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST) and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), was held at NCNST in Beijing. Xinghua SHI, Deputy Director of NCNST, Guangjun NIE, Vice President of UCAS, and Xin YAO, Executive Dean of the UCAS School of Nanoscience and Engineering, attended the event, together with more than 40 young researchers from the three UCAS schools and NCNST.

Xinghua SHI stressed in his remarks that young researchers are the driving force of interdisciplinary innovation and that NCNST highly values youth exchange, expressing his hope that both sides would strengthen mutual learning and understanding and pursue complementary cooperation based on their respective strengths.

Guangjun NIE expressed his expectation that nanoscience would take the lead as a model in science-education integration, combining NCNST's strengths in platforms and major missions with UCAS’s strengths in disciplines and education to explore effective pathways for cross-institution, cross-disciplinary collaborative training.

Ten young researchers gave presentations on frontier topics including energy storage materials, photovoltaic devices, nanovaccines, mRNA drug delivery, and molecular simulation. Participants also held in-depth discussions on joint research, joint grant applications, regular exchange mechanisms, and the articulation between coursework and research training for graduate students. The UCAS delegation visited NCNST's research facilities during the event.

The symposium aims to enhance mutual understanding among young researchers across nanoscience, chemistry, and chemical engineering and to promote cooperation through exchange.
