Education and Professional Experience:

Jian ZHANG graduated from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shandong University in 2013.

In 2018, he obtained his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (National Center for Nanoscience and Technology) under the supervision of Prof. Lianfeng Sun.

From 2018 to 2022, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa), collaborating with Professor Michel Calame. During his postdoctoral tenure, he was awarded the European Union's "Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions" fellowship and was promoted to Empa Scientist in 2022, leading independent research projects.

In 2024, he joined the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics in Germany as the Group Leader of Nanoelectronics, collaborating with Prof. Xinliang Feng.

He officially joined the Nanofabrication Laboratory of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology in February 2025.

Research Interests:

Atomic-Precision Quantum Devices:

Investigate novel quantum effects at the atomic scale using cutting-edge fabrication techniques.


Emerging Single-Molecule Electronics:

Study device fabrication and charge transport properties of molecular nanoribbons.


Novel 1D/2D Moiré Superlattice Electronics:

Explore correlated electronic states and their modulation mechanisms in engineered superlattice architectures.


High-Throughput Nanodevice Manufacturing:

Integrate micro/nanofabrication, robotic automation and artificial intelligence for scalable production.
