On the afternoon of October 31, 2025, at the invitation of Prof. Huiqiong Zhou from the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, China (NCNST), a delegation from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) in Brazil, led by Vice President Prof. Camila Fachin, visited NCNST for collaborative discussions.

The delegation included Prof. Aida Peres, Director of the International Office, and five researchers specializing in materials physics, agricultural sciences, building technology, and other fields. The delegation was welcomed by NCNST Director Prof. Zhiyong Tang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Prof. Xinfeng Liu, Officer for International Affairs Dr. Caoyu Yang, Prof. Huiqiong Zhou, Associate Prof. Shuai You, Associate Prof. Hong Zhang, and Engineer Wang Yanjie from the Laboratory of Nanosystem and Hierarchical Fabrication.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Xinfeng Liu. Prof. Zhiyong Tang delivered the welcome address, during which he reviewed the history of collaboration between the NCNST and Brazilian partners in nanoscience and technology since 2008, including high-level exchanges, student training, and joint research initiatives. He specifically mentioned the recent proposal to establish a China-Brazil Joint Research Platform on Nanotechnology. Prof. Tang expressed his hope that this visit would help expand cooperation in areas such as green energy, nanomedicine, agricultural technology, and synchrotron radiation applications, aiming to achieve complementary advantages by leveraging China's technological strengths with Brazil's resource richness and application scenarios.

Following this, representatives from both sides introduced their respective institutions' profiles and international cooperation activities. Prof. Huiqiong Zhou presented her group's latest research progress in the device engineering of perovskite and organic solar cells. During the exchange session, both parties explored potential collaboration opportunities under various Sino-Brazilian funding frameworks, reviewed existing cooperative foundations, and reached preliminary intentions for future collaboration in shared interest areas, including clean energy, environmental remediation, agricultural technology, and synchrotron radiation technology.

After the meeting, the delegation visited relevant laboratories.

This exchange further deepened mutual understanding and trust, clarified potential cooperation directions, and laid a solid foundation for future substantive collaboration, such as establishing joint laboratories, co-applying for projects, and fostering talent development.

The Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), is the oldest university in Brazil, founded in 1912. As a comprehensive research university, UFPR adheres to the principle of integrating teaching, research, and social service. It holds significant strengths in engineering, natural sciences, and agricultural sciences. Through its multiple campuses located in Curitiba, the interior, and the coastal regions, UFPR plays a vital role in the socio-economic development and scientific advancement of Paraná State and Brazil.
