On September 5, 2025, a delegation of eight members from the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) of Thailand, led by Executive Director Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, visited the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, China (NCNST). Dr. Pasupha Chinvarasopak, the Science and Technology Counsellor of the Embassy of Thailand in China, accompanied the visit.

In the morning, the NANOTEC delegation visited several key laboratories at NCNST. They gained detailed insights into the research facilities and supporting infrastructure in areas such as nanofabrication, composite nanomaterials, nanobiomedicine, ultra-precision measurement, and molecular breeding.

The "NCNST-NANOTEC Collaborative Meeting and Joint Seminar" officially commenced at 1:00 PM. The meeting was attended by NCNST Director Prof. Zhiyong Tang, Deputy Director Prof. Xinghua Shi, Ms. Fangfang Zhao, Deputy Director of the Asia-Africa Cooperation Office of the Bureau of International Cooperation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Ms. Hailian Pan, Director of the Department of Education, NCNST, as well as four principal investigators: Prof. Xing-Jie Liang, Prof. Yanlian Yang, Prof. Hai Wang, and Prof. Bao-Hang Han. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Xinfeng Liu, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, NCNST.

Prof. Zhiyong Tang extended a warm welcome to the NANOTEC delegation. He emphasized the solid foundation of cooperation between China and Thailand in the field of nanoscience and technology. He stated that both centers should further promote the collaborative spirit championed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn during her visit to China in 2013. He highlighted the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as an opportunity to continuously deepen practical cooperation in areas such as joint research projects and talent cultivation.

Subsequently, Prof. Xinghua Shi and Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai presented overviews of NCNST and NANOTEC, respectively, covering their history, institutional structure, research progress, and international cooperation, thereby enhancing mutual understanding.

Following the introductions, a new five-year MoU was signed between NCNST and NANOTEC, witnessed by representatives from CAS and the Embassy of Thailand in China. This lays a solid foundation for comprehensive and multi-faceted collaboration between the two institutions over the next five years.

During the scientific exchange session, eight principal investigators from NCNST and NANOTEC presented their research progress. In-depth discussions were held on various cutting-edge fields of nanotechnology, including biomedicine, detection technologies, and sustainable development.

This event effectively fostered consensus and enhanced cooperation in the field of nanoscience and technology between China and Thailand.

NANOTEC, established on August 13, 2003, is a government research institute under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Thailand. Its core mission is to advance nanotechnology research, development, and application, and to disseminate nanotechnology knowledge widely within Thai society.
