BEIJING, August 29, 2025 - The 6th Director's Forum on Nanotechnology brought together nearly 40 directors and leading scientists from premier research institutions across China, the United States, Europe, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Israel. Hosted by the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, China (NCNST), the forum focused on how nanotechnology innovation is accelerated through artificial intelligence (AI).

The discussions highlighted AI's growing role in transforming traditional research approaches, with particular emphasis on materials discovery, nanomedicine development, and sustainable energy solutions. Participants noted significant advances in machine learning applications for predicting material properties and optimizing nanomaterial performance.

The forum identified several key emerging trends, including intelligent nanomaterial design, AI-optimized drug delivery systems, and smart nanofabrication techniques. These developments are expected to substantially shorten research and development cycles while enabling new approaches to global challenges in healthcare and clean energy.

International collaboration emerged as a central theme, with participants emphasizing the need for shared data standards and cross-border research initiatives. The integration of AI tools across different nanotechnology domains was seen as crucial for driving the next wave of innovation in the field.

Held ahead of the 10th International Conference on Nanoscience and Technology, China (ChinaNANO 2025), the forum provided a strategic platform for global nanoscience leaders to align research priorities and establish collaborative frameworks for the era of AI-driven nanotechnology.
